Following the Chancellor’s recent confirmation of support for Heathrow’s third runway proposal, local campaign group Back Heathrow has warmly welcomed her decision.
Back Heathrow Executive Director, Parmjit Dhanda said: “This truly is a historic moment for our country. By backing Heathrow’s expansion, the Chancellor has backed growth. No new runways have been built in the South East since the 1940s, yet China plans to build 100 entirely new airports by 2035. A third runway at Heathrow will help secure Britain’s place in the global economy for generations to come.
He continued, “This is the right choice for Britain - Heathrow’s expansion is Europe’s largest privately funded infrastructure project. 10,000 new local apprenticeship opportunities and thousands of new jobs across the country are waiting to be unlocked from this single project.”
“100,000 local people want this runway, and they are ready to back our campaign to see it built.”
Back Heathrow has been campaigning for the expansion of Heathrow Airport since 2013.
